Following our fantastic performance of Babes In The Wood in February, our director and stage manager Margaret and Terry Surrey spent a day at St. Michael’s Primary School meeting with the pupils on dd/mm/yyyy and providing them an insight into the performing arts. They brought along some costumes and props from both our last pantomime and previous productions for the children to try on. They also talked about the hugely varied roles that people can take on – both on stage, back stage and front of house. The important message that the Surrey’s conveyed was that pursuing a career or hobby in drama doesn’t have to be about being on stage. Our last production included a little over 20 members on stage but that was matched in number by stage management, technicians on lighting and sound effects, musicians, singers, choreographers and directors.
The pupils were invited to enter a poster competition – to create a poster to advertise a pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The competition would be for both KS1 and KS2 with first and second prizes in each group. The entries were magnificent and very interesting and we’re displaying them here for you to see for yourselves. The winners received a colouring pencil box and sketch pads and everyone who entered were given some confectionery.
